Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches.

On the weekend of 2 - 4 March 2018, we want to help inspire 500,000 people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up the rubbish that lies around us. Join the growing army of #LitterHeroes who have had enough of other people’s litter and are willing to do something about it.

The Great British Spring Clean campaign aims to bring together local people to clear up litter and Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury councils are hoping that local communities and groups will help to do their bit to make the places where we live and work look that little bit nicer.

Although this event is being held between 2-4 March 2018  you can plan a litter picking event at any time during the year and borrow the litter picking equipment (subject to availability) from us and get us to remove any bags of litter you collect following your event.

Please contact customer.services@westsuffolk.gov.uk or phone 01284 763233 or 01638 719000 to check on availability and book the loan of your litter picking equipment (litter pickers, bag hoops, hi-vis waistcoats and bags).

Any Great British Spring Clean event you organise can be officially registered and advertised online at: The Great British Spring Clean and if you need any further information about litter picking please look at our litter picking page.

Litter remains a huge problem across the country, causing harm to the environment and wildlife, with councils in England having to spend over £700 million on street cleaning services every year.
